Norton internet security software

In November or thereabouts my life updates would not work.  I got the 2008 software yesterday but the 08 version will not install.  I get a message that the application is already running and I have to wait until it is finished.  But there is nothing running as far as live updates--it is stuck there somehow.  So then I figured I would uninstall the old Norton stuff--it will not delete because it says live updates are running.  But they are not.  Then the Norton instructions said run %temp% and delete all of my temporary files.  The notice came up that I have over 2,000 temporary internet files.  Can I delete them all?  I get a pop up that warns me about every other one or so and asks if I am sure I want it deleted.  So I got scared and just quit that.  Is it always safe to delete every temporary file/folder?

Nancy you may need to remove your old version in order to install the new version.. If you have removed it already from Add/Remove Programs then you might need to run this tool to completely remove the old before you install the new..

Thanks for the link.  It did remove Norton from my desk top.  Now that I think of it, my live updates quit working when I got satellite internet service.  I ran live update on the 08 one I just installed and it never could connect.....  Have no idea what is happening.  And now on my laptop to this forum I have 4 pop up ads here, all related to computer related items.  And I have ALL pop ups blocked.

Are you getting any specific errors when it is running.. messages that kind of thing. It will help with trying to figure out what is happening.

There are a lot of reasons why it may not be running I am sure some more info may get someone on the board to trigger possible solutions.

Have you tried looking to the support site for norton on live update.. they have quite a few articles you can try..
