Recovery. Help

is there a way to do a system recovery without a cd?
 
Sometime last week my system froze. Since then it takes forever to reboot if at all and some of my programs are missing. I checked the device manager and fixed a lot of the issues but my wireless internet still seems to be messed up. Would a recovery fix this issue?
 
System restore wouldn't fix the problem and now it only goes back to yesterday for some apparent reason.

    Reboot and press F12. Run hardware tests on hard drive, in case your drive is about to fail. Back up your personal files ASAP to CD to be safe. If HD is OK, you may need to go to Dell's Drivers&Download page for your system (always include that info in your posts) to dowload and reinstall the chipset driver which is necessary for hardware to run correctly. You may need to reinstall the drivers for your wireless too.

    If that doesn't help, then you'll have to get the XP CD. If you didn't receive the disk with the system, contact Dell Tech and request it. Ask for the Utilities and Resources and software CDs too. Email works best and include service tag number.
