Hi!  How are you doing?  I hope that you had a stress-free weekend. 

 

I have a stupid question.  It relates to sharing an entire external hard drive over a wireless network.  I was able to read it over my home network but all of a sudden, the entire drive's path is not found.  I can see the folder for it but receive an error message from my whitebox's Win XP Pro system saying that I might not have file permissions to read it and that there was a server storage error. 

 

I have been using a program called SyncBack that syncs even network folders together and it was working fine until recently.  I think I have been fooling around with my USB external drive's folder permissions until I goofed it up. 

NOTE:  I can see shared folders on my Inspiron 8200's Windows XP Home's C:\ drive successfully. 

 

Please answer these questions.  Thanks! 

 

What is a share, how do I read it from my Windows XP Home's Computer Management->Shared Folders->Shares, and how can I use it to help me enable my external USB drive to be shared again so at least I know that I can do it even though I am going to physically remove and insert its USB cable into my Windows XP Pro system instead of syncing it over my home network?

 

Please provide me with useful web URLS. books, etc to study so I can be stronger in the Microsoft OS area since it looks like I am going to be my own technical support.
