Can someone please please please help me. My Inspiron 2650 laptop went into hibernation one nite due to the battery being low. When I went to reboot I received the BLUE SCREEN and have tried 1000 times to reboot every which way. I have read countless articles and they all say to boot from the windows cd. But none of the articles explains exactly how. I cannot get past the blue screen. The CD is in the drive but it doesn't do anything but spin when i turn the laptop back on. At least i think i have the correcet cd. It's the cd that came with the laptop from dell. It says "reinstallation CD Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Including Service Pack 1". I am very good at following directions, can someone tell me how to reboot from the cd? PLEASE??? :(
Hi, I have exactly the same problem as the author of this message.
I tried to do a clean installation with my Windows XP Professional but it can't seems to be working at all. It did able to format the harddisk but it cannot copy the Windows files to the system.
Can any kind souls kindly assist me in this? Thanks alot!!!
Why you are making thinks complicated? Once when I encountered this issue I fixed the problem by booting the machine with the recovery CD, selecting the repair utility in windows setup and running chkdsk /r. This took about an hour to complete but then the system came back up just fine. But in case this solution doesn't works then you should better try to make your hard drive data safe with XP Data Recovery software. It will help you to store the data in a safe and secure place.

Fairly straight forward.
