Studio 1745 Bios Update Fail

Following a prompt from Dell Support Center program to install a critical BIOS update I allowed the program to proceed.  The bios was from Pheonix tech.  The update went through its steps and froze.  The computer never restored.  Never restarted.  This is after waiting an hour for it to restart itself.  Now when you boot up the laptop beeps several times in a series over and over.  No dell screen comes up.  Nothing appears on the screen. It is just blank.  I tried pulling the bios battery to see if it would reset with no luck after putting the Win7 disc in and rebooting to no avail.  Any advice?  Any ideas?  Your help is appreciated.

Unfortunately a failed BIOS update on a Dell (BIOS Corruption) and the ONLY recourse is to replace the motherboard. If it's in warranty contact Dell support to get it fixed.

    guilo1969,

Just to add to fireberds comment,

If a validated Dell Bios file corrupts the CMOS chip and makes the motherboard inoperable -
    * In warranty, Dell will send the motherboard and an onsite technician or use the Return to Depot process
    * Out of warranty, Dell will send only the motherboard. You will need to replace it yourself and send the old motherboard back to Dell

Let me know if you get any pushback from Dell Support.

Chris M, thank you for the response.  You and fireberd definitely gave me some insight into what is happening.  I have finally contacted Dell Support and after paying $59 for the call since my laptop is out of warranty, they say the only resolution is to send it to them to repair.  There was a mention of $159 for the shipping, labor and minor parts.  When I pursued the fact that a Dell program caused the failure I received the same response... I would still have to pay.  Any thoughts or ideas?  Your help is greatly appreciated.  BTW... when attempting to boot it gives 7 beeps before repeating.

Before you send it back, you might try clearing BIOS by removing the coin cell battery.

Be sure to follow the instructions at that page to unplug the power brick, remove the main battery etc. Then remove and leave the motherboard battery out for ~5-10 min. Then reinstall it (right-side-up!), install the main battery and see if it will boot now.

I just bricked my 1745 trying to flash from BIOS A01 to A04.  The system was operating nicely before I tried to flash.
