Total reinstall

I have been hit with I believe the Trojan Horse . I have tried everything and have had Dell on the phone with no luck. Are there  step by step instructions somewhere that I can totally wipe out my hard drive and reinstall the software from scratch? I have never done this on my own but would love to be able to without help.

    Can't help you much with your qquestiion but have one of my own.  I am struggling with some strange goings on and am wondering if I have a trojan horse.  What did you look for to determine that?  As for the reinstall, if you have XP and the installation disk, might want to visit http://www.theeldergeek.com/.  He has some excellent tutorials on XP matters, including a clean reinstall.  I used his web page with great success (And I am a stark newbie).

    Absolutely nothing works. Cannot open anything.
