Validate or Activate ? I do not know what you mean Validate unless the install routine says you have an invalid key. If so what version of Vista are you trying to install. I have to assume that this is an Upgrade version as the Dell Branded reinstallation disk doesn't require a key and is activated using the BIOS SLIP Table and a Dell certification document on the DVD. Make sure you are installing the correct version of Vista for the key you have. It should specify this on the COA Sticker that the key is printed on.

If you mean activate then you will need to call Microsoft at the number provided on the failure to activate window that pops up.

In some other forums it has been seen, when somebody received a motherboard replacement, that problem came up... And is fixed with an Updated BIOS... Is this your case? Did Dell replace your motherboard??
