I have a Dell Dimension 3000 and was wondering if it would be able to run Vista?
Also, if it's capable of running Vista I read somewhere that you can try it for 120 days? If at the end of the 120 days or before I wanted to go back to XP could I go back without issue?
I used to have the Dimension 3000 and had a poor experience with Vista. I was testing Vista Ultimate in beta. I think you might be limited to Vista Basic. Not sure.
I now have Inspiron e1505 T5500 core 2 duo. 2gb 667mhz 5400 DDR2. Vista Premium works for me great but I have Core 2 Duo and 64 bit. Dimension 3000 is 32 bit....
You can download a tool from Microsoft called Vista Upgrade Advisor. It will make a detailed report on your computer. My guess is that after doing that you will decide to not try. If you do upgrade you are looking at many hours doing the upgrade. Then if you want to go back to XP I think you will need to do a system restore and you will lose all your data and programs. If you really want Vista check out the prices on new desktops.
