Windows 7 registration site problem?

I've just purchased a Dell machine should must be eligible to register free upgrade to Windows 7, so I goto the site : http://win7.dell.com/ to try register, after I input the basic information and my Dell support code , then click "Validate" button, then nothing happen, no error code and the button disappear. And then nothing I can do

So that I retry and just type in a wrong support code to try e.g. 123AFGD and click Validate again, but the result is the same - nothing happen. Is there any problem for the site ?? any people have the same problem with me?

Regards

Thomas

When I entered the service tag "123AFGD" and clicked the "Validate" button a I received an error box stating  "This system is not eligible. Please verify that you have entered the correct service tag and review the eligibility criteria.". Here is an image:

Try refreshing the page and then trying again.

Oh and what web browser are you using? And do you have any ad-blocking or javascript blocking scripts enabled?

Hi, After you first your system it can take anything up to 21 days for it to work. Keep trying, it will work.

    Hi Thomas,

I'm facing exactly same problem. Is your problem resolved now? Were you able to register for windows 7 upgrade succesfully ? If your problem is resolved, please let me know how? Thanks in advance.

I purchased an eligible Dell laptop on July 13, 2009. When I go through the registration process and get validation that says I am eligible for the Windows 7 upgrade, I move onto the next page which says that Dell needs a little more information about my current OS. All of the information is already entered and no other options are available on the drop down menus. The information is all correct, but, when I push the continue button to move on in the registration process, all that loads is a blank page, and I have no other buttons to push after that point.

I have been trying to register for about a week now and have already contacted the registration customer service, who first said I should try another time because of the massive traffic on those pages. The problem occurs on the same page very time, even at the latest hours of night and the earliest hours of the morning. I contacted them again, and this time they said I should contact the Dell Support Center.

I have tried registering on different web browsers and cleared my cookies and browsing data before I started registering to see if that helped. Is the link broken on that page? is anyone else having this problem and, if so, how did you fix it?

    Thank you for your help.

    Respectfully,

    Joseph Kalamarz

actually my problem is fixed, and I haven't done anything, I just wait for few days, (may be 7-10 days), then I try to register again, it's fine.

And the username/password pair is created so that I can login anytime. However since my windows vista is Traditional Chinese and seems that currently Chinese Windows 7 is not available yet, so I 'm still waiting for further notification about the availability of the Chinese Windows 7.

But in my view, the website is really buggy... if you are in HK, you can try to dial 34160910--2 , which is the Windows 7 update hotline to seek for help.

I had this happen too. It may be your security settings, they could be too high, or some add ins you have. Try lowering them. You can also try using a different browser. Hope that helps!
