Windows Update
Was working on a friends computer, a dimension 2100, SP-2, IE 7. When attempting to access windows update, the page will not load. It just defaults back to MSN homepage. There appears to be no way, from any avenue to access the update page. Tried everything I could think of. Any ideas of why and how I can access? Also when starting computer, message "start up app bad, rundll.exe. Could that be the problem.

I probably cannot offer much help, but both the startup message and the inability to contact Windows Update lead me to suspect a virus or other type of malware.
Based on that, have you considered posting in the Virus / Spyware forum, linked below?
