    ur2funny,

When you get to the command prompt (C:\Windows>) enter the following, substituting the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive for X:

    expand x:\i386\c_437.nl_ c:\windows\system32\c_437.nls and press

Note that there is a space after nl_.

    ur2funny,

Is the Windows CD in the drive and did you change the "x" in the command to the letter of your CD-ROM drive? At the command prompt in Recovery Console what is displayed when you enter dir x:\i386\*.nl_ and press (with the CD-ROM drive letter substituted for x: again).

    ur2funny,

If you are sure you typed the command correctly, see if substituting copy for expand will work.

    ur2funny,

A repair reinstall may return the system to normal operation. It will not disturb your data but you will have to reinstall any Windows Critical Updates you have previously installed. Instructions are here.

ok i went to do the repair reinstall and after i choose setup instead of repair after the first screen and read the liscence agreement it goes to a screen that shows a list of partitions on the computer instead of the one it shows in the link.  the partitions are    -:partition1 [FAT]
                                                                                                 C:Partition2 [NFTS]
Unpartitioned space   it says to choose a partiton to set up windows XP on.

    ur2funny,

I'm stumped, then. Somehow the system is not seeing the existing Windows installation so you cannot proceed with the repair from that point. I'll see if I can find any additional information, but what you are seeing is new to me.
