my daughter was working on her com it i dell 2400 running win xp home and said she wanted to make her monitor resolution better anyway she clicked on some things and now her monitor will not work. I know the monitor still is good because I tried it on my computer and works fine. I think she somehow disabled the monitor so that the com is not using it, is there a way to disable/enable monitor in win xp? If so I cannot find a way to bring it back , even re-loading win xp does not help, all it does is go to the "windows starting " page and then goes blank. I can get to f2 and f12 page but cant find anything there that will enable monitor . And I cant adjust windows if I cant see it.. How do I fix this...please help, surely someone has had this happen before
any more info you need and I will try to give it as soon as I can but please help
thanks steve for the quick advice, I already tried to boot to safe mode, I am sorry I forgot to mention that in the original question, I am sorry for wasting your time. I am not computer illiterate I just dont know much about xp when it comes to problems like these. any other suggestions welcome. or any info you experts need let me know.. Please help if you can....
If you are able to get video in the initial BIOS boot screen up to the windows splash screen, I have one question for you: Do you have hibernate enabled in your power management settings? If so go into safe mode and turn it off!

unable to boot into safe mode, Oh and thanks for all the quick responses, I appreciate any and all help. I can get to the f2 and f12 pages , which are listed as BIOS but I dont see anything in there about Monitor or any devices for that matter(modem, 3.5 floppy, etc) is there a different page of BIOS? If so what key do I push on boot up? Like I said its a Dimension 2400. Last time I had to get into bios and fix something I was running win 95, but I thought the devices should be listed like they were in win 95.
no monitor not set to hibernate. any other info I can give let me know. I do really appreciate the help
