YouTube

I am trying to view YouTube videos, however I keep getting the error message that either I have JavaScript turned off or I don't have the latest version of Macromedia Flash Player. Well, I DO have JavaScript enabled, and I DO have the latest version of Flash Player. Neither my Firewall, nor my pop up blocker are affecting it either. So, does anyone no what is going on or how I can fix this. I just bought my  Dell XPS 400. On my Inspiron Laptop, I could watch them, but on my XPS, I cannot. This tells me it is a setting somewhere in my computer disabling me to view on YouTube. I can see the videos when embeded in other sites, but when on YouTube, I cannot.

Please Help

Ok, so I talked to Dell, and they are trying to figure out what is wrong. It seems to be internet explorer is causing the error. I downloaded Moxilla Firefox, and YouTube works fine with that internet browser. This is only a temp fix until they can figure out the problem.

I`ve seen this problem before with You Tube. The solution was to uninstall the Fash Player and reinstall the latest one. You must install the one you have first

I had the same problem. I went into the control pannel, selected internet options and under the advanced tab, I checked the Java box. Worked fine after that.

I fought this recurring problem for nearly a year!  It's finally resolved just this week.  Lucky me! :smileyvery-happy:  Lucky you? :smileywink:

Unbeknownst to me, I actually had some files from two different versions of Java on my pc, despite having always removed older version via Add/Remove Programs before installing updates!  How I discovered this, I did a Search on "Java" and looked at properties of the files listed!  Yes, I really was getting THAT fed up with not being able to figure this out.  The two versions were apparently fighting each other to load up when needed on websites.  Always uninstall old versions fully before updating to newer versions of Java.  Then I manually deleted (if it would let me) all things Java in the Search results listing.

Like you, I turned off popup blockers, turned off realitme antispyware SW, everything I could think of.  I was "sure" my firewall was not blocking because I could see Java had internet access in my McAfee FW permission rules listing.  I knew Java was enabled everywhere possible in Internet Options, Security, Custom and Advanced screens because I had been troubleshooting this issue on several forums for sume time!  Many reinstalls of fresh copy of Java just simply did not resolve.  Finally I decided to remove all Java permission rules entirely from my McAfee Firewall to " clear that slate" !  This way it would install itself to a clean slate in the firewall as is required by Java.  After doing all that I downloaded Java v.1.5.0_08.   Afterwards, when I looked at the list of firewall permission rules I saw not one, but TWO entries for Java:  javaw.exe and jre-1 _5_0_08-windows-i586-p-iftw.exe . Now I am no longer getting the dreaded error screen you were getting.  So you might try deleting your java application permission rules in your firewall and triny from "scratch" like I did.

The problem had absolutely nothing to do with my Flashplayer which WAS the latest player all along.

Don't know why prior Add/Remove uninstall/reinstall efforts of Java didn't correct the McAfee firewall setup for me, but for whatever reason, it didn't. I'm sooooooo pleased the problem is finally resolved. I can now go to the two websites and YouTube and watch videos w/o problem.  I know this all sounds daunting, but I have been javascript errorfree for nearly a week now, so it might just be your problem as well.  Java needs to "clean up their act" and come up with a way for newer version installs to automatically delete all Java files in older versions.  But I'm not going to hold my breath.........

    Hope this helps.

youtube uses flash for videos so you will need flash player 9 plugin too

if you have a firewall that might be blocking javascript
