XPS 9570 Crash Whenever dGPU is engaged

Is there a way to permanently disable the dedicated Nvidia graphics card?

My laptop crashes whenever I try to update the Nvidia graphics card driver, or any time it is in use. From what I've read elsewhere it looks like I have a faulty GPU.

My problem is similar to this:
https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/dell-xps-9570-OS-crashes-when-installing-nvidia-driver/td-p/7894163

I've gone into device manager and uninstalled the driver several times, but I still get a crash and then the driver appears again.

This is always the error displayed:

Stop Code : PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

What failed: nvIddmkm.sys

Any ideas?

I installed the driver directly from the Dell website

You have to use Dell customized drivers for the card not Nvidia's. Reinstall the drivers that came with the laptop. Dell will issue updates if they ever become available. Sign up for updates at the Dell site.
