I would argue it relates to this on how you manage the initiators and how you tag them.

Mapping the volume to the initiator should be done just like any other LUN mapping on XtremIO. Have you looked at the user guide to see the procedure?

Ok, couple things here.

1) You should probably reach out to your local account TC first and foremost. They're good to build a relationship with for this kind of thing.

2) As to your question, you most likely need to just map the LUN to the initiator like any other LUN presentation. (Check docs or ask your local team for some knowledge transfer if you have no idea how to do that, I don't want to walk you through it as it would imply some crucial steps in delivering and installing your system were missed, like the "let's walk through mapping a LUN" step). Many host's HBAs prefer their boot LUNs to be below 10, and some require them to be LUN 0. So after you present it, if the host still won't boot off of it, I would try checking the LUN number, changing it to 0 if possible in the XtremIO GUI (may only be possible when you present it, so you may have to unmap and re-map it), and then booting into the HBA's bootup menu to see if you have to select the boot LUNs from there.

so you create  initiator group and manually specify the WWPN of your HBA. What happens after that ?

You need to click on the volume you want to map, then go and click  "create/modify mappings", choose the initiator group you want to be able to see the volume, then choose the LUN number on the next page, then hit finish. That should be it.
