Terrible Audio Quality with headphones/Earbuds

I just bought a laptop the other day and as soon as i turned it on and went to watch a YouTube video with it I noticed the audio quality was so bad i decided to swap from my earbuds to my Turtle beach headset thinking it was just the earbuds that were bad but that wasn't the problem.

For the earbuds only the left earbud had sound and it was a lot of static with really bad sound from the video

For the headset it didn't have the static but sound only came from the left ear cup

Im not very good with computers so I dont know if this is just a simple oversight of a setting or a problem with the laptop itself

The laptop is a Dell I5566 - 3628BLK I3 - 7100U/6G/1T/15.6T

Hi TheRedViking,

Thanks for posting.

Try switching to the Windows native audio driver:

1. Open the Device Manager (type devmgmt.msc in the search box).
2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".
3. Select to "Update Driver Software".
4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".
6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.
7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).
8. Click "Next".
9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver).
10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted, then no need to restart.
[To get back to the Realtek driver,  do it again but reverse the names in steps 1 and 6.]

If there is still an issue, then it could be a hardware problem and for that you should contact tech support. Make sure that the equilizer in your music player (i.e. Windows Media Player) is set to normal. Also when comparing to other playback devices, all of their eq and other enhancements should be set to flat, to try to compare apples to apples as much as possible.
