<p>I am a retired CPA and Information Systems Manager. I have a deep understanding of DOS 2.0 and Lotus 1,2</p> <p>and 3. I have been on the ground floor of building the first desktop computers with 256k of memory along with</p> <p>two 5 1/4 inch floppy drives. One to run the program and the other to hold your data. I had the responsibility to</p> <p>scrap an IBM 360-50 which took $500,000 per year to run in an anti-static climate controlled room the size of</p> <p>Wisconsin. It cost $500,000 for the equipment and when I scrapped it was difficult to get anyone to haul it off.</p> <p>I replaced it with an IBM system 36 that lasted a few years longer than the 360-50. It was a good workhorse</p> <p>until the PC became powerful enough to replace it using a decent networking platform.</p> <p>The good thing about us old DOS guys is we'll soon be dead and you won't have to hear about the good</p> <p>old days when we had to use a pencil to compute our answers. We also had to remember our contacts</p> <p>phone numbers and we had only three TV channels to chose from. Our cars didn't talk to us and we interacted</p> <p>with our neighbors having parties and socializing without a facebook, twitter, linkedin or other ways that big</p> <p>brother can follow you everywhere. It seemed like a better time. There were no lawsuits against those</p> <p>who threw a party and the blame for ones actions remained with the perpetrator.</p> <p>Of course I could be wrong - something you don't hear much in this blameless society. </p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p>
