EOP Printers

Is there somewhere that really documents EOP Printing.

Or is there someone that can really outline what it is in some sort of "Layman's Terms"

Basically I'm wondering if it is worth installing into our farm, if I have to install drivers, and have a dedicated server for it.

Thanks

Mike,

The EOP Printer driver gets installed when you install the Terminal Server Enhancements or PNTools on VDIs.

You have 3 basic types of EOP Printer redirection.

1. You have Client side redirection.

This is turned on in the AppPortal/Website settings. It will redirect the printers that are present on the Client and make them appear in the remote session.

This doesn't need anything extra installed.

2. Management Console Assigned Universal Printers.

This requires the EOP Print Server Role to be installed on your existing network print server.

This allows you to use vWorkspace Management Console to assign the Printers (You assign them with the same flexibility as managed applications meaning they can be assigned to users, groups, devices, advanced targets etc)

3. EOP Print Remote Site relay

To use this option, it needs to be installed on each remote site.

This enhances option 2. You can use it so that users in a remote site connected to a RDSH/VDI in a central office can still print to their sites printers without using all of the available bandwidth. We're talking a reduction down to possibly 10% of normal printing.

This is covered with a fair amount of detail in the Admin Guide.

Thanks, Andrew.
