Published shortcuts are not appearing on VDI VMs
Since upgrading to MR1 Published shortcuts are not appearing on the users Start Menu or Desktop of the VDI VM’s.
Checking the event log I see

The VDI VM is Windows 7 64 bit (with the latest MR1 x64 PNtools installed) hosted on Hyper-V (R2 x64) I’ve tested this on 2 different desktops pools.
The previous version of PNtools were uninstalled prior to the new version going on.
Published shortcuts on my RDSH server seem to be working.
Any Ideas? Obviously I can’t roll this out in production until we have a remedy.
I will raise a support case when I get back to the office later today.
Cheers,
Dan.

Hi Daniel,
We haven't been able to duplicate this in our lab. If you could gather a PNShell log and send it to support that would be much appreciated. To enable VDI PNShell logging do the following:
Thank you,
Adam

Hi Adam,
I'll do that ASAP...
Just out of interest... Is your test user using folder re-direction for it's profile (AppData, etc)?
I've since discovered that if the user IS NOT using folder re-direction, the published shortcuts display fine.
Cheers,
Dan.

To add...
If the published shortcut is on the desktop and the desktop is not re-directed, then the shortcut displays. It doesn't matter if say My Documents is re-directed.
So if just the folder where the published shortcut is designated is re-directed, then it does not work/display.

Daniel,
Thanks for the investigative work! Make sure to include all this information in the support case. We'll see if we can verify your findings in house.
Very much appreciated!

Hi Adam,
I have done and I've included the PN log file.
I have a feeling this was an issue before MR1 - I've updated the thread title accordingly

I think the error comes from your Seamless app issue - can you check if it only occurs when launching a seamless app for me, please ?

Just to add for comical value... I've already logged this with support earlier this year oops. That confirms it's not MR1 related then.
Always good to remind you guys though
Dan.

Makes my life easier that way Dan, thanks
Feel free to raise it again in a month
However, the crashing isn't part of the Published Shortcut/ Folder Redirection issue... so if anyone knows the cause for the crash, please let us know.

Lol ☺
Just looked at the event the error wasn’t there! On the same machine it was occurring on! I’ve logged on twice using different users, one with folder re-direction and one without.
Odd.
I’ll monitor it.

I've not seen the MSVCR90.dll crash on the RDS servers, which is where the seamless apps are coming from. Not seen it yet anyway.
The crash/error above has only been seen on Windows 7 desktop sessions so far (not using seamless apps).

I have exactly got the same problem. I am using Windows 7 X86 and using Folder Redirection for the Desktop & Appdata folder. I have also raised a support call for this

So the issue has been re-directed in house? - see what I did there?
That was bad... starting to do "dad" jokes.
