Intel driver update

Hello can someone share some light on what this driver does? Intel Serial IO Drive.  There is an update for this being listed by Support Assist.  The only information given is very vague and does not really tell what this driver does or is needed for.  And because of the many driver/bios snafus reported in these forums and all over the net I'd like more details as to what its purpose is and the chance it can screw up Windows 10.  My PC is the Alienware Aurora R6 model with Intel Core i7 7700 non K. with 256GB ssd and 2TB hdd with 16G Ram.

Thanks

I have that driver update on my Insprion 15 5577 "gaming" laptop.  Has not caused any problem.

    The Dell description says

    Enhancements:
    - Support Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.
    - Improved power management support

Inspiron 16 5630 Laptop and WD22TB4 Docking Station
Self-built desktop for recording studio application

    Hi @GamerdudeForever,

That driver is part of the motherboard chipset, it is necessary and the update should not cause any problems.
