Hello,
We are going to refresh one of our NAS devices soon, and I was wondering if there is a command or something in the celerra manager gui that can save all of my current configuration, like ips, dns, fs names, shares...etc.
Along with that, what will the saved data be used for? Simply as archive notes to refer to, or are you looking for something which would, in an automated fashion, rebuild your current Celerra on a new one?
(by the way, the latter is not available except in emergencies, through a NAS_DB restore)
I dont know much about Celerra, I just want to keep a copy of how our old NS500G is or was configured, I belive we will be migrating the data thru replicator.
are you going to migrate data to NS20 from NS500G via Celerra replicator ? Nas database contains a lot of this information ..not sure if you want to restore that into a brand new Celerra. ..probably not.
Just NFS. Now that I remember we did this already last year and yes we had to recreate everything I just had a doubt if there is a simple way to gather the data thru a command or in the GUI, I searched and found nothing so I just went from tap to tap and export the data. So I'm set unless you know of a more simple way to gather the configuration data.
NFS should be easy then ..just replicate to NS20 and re-export. When i migrated my "NFS" file system, i just documented output from "server_export server_X -Protocol nfs -list -all" and then used it to export file systems on new Celerra.
a lot of things will be replicated to new Celerra if you are using virtual datamovers on NS500G. Many thing will need to be manually recreated on new Celerra ..things such as interfaces, file systems (data will be copied from NS500G). Are you using NFS/iSCSI ?
