Two very basic questions

I know very little about NS20. Please help me with these questions:

1.Why I must define a DNS server for the control station on GUI even I don't have one? What address should I use?

2.I created a CIFS Server in Standalone mode. and now I'm adding a user quota for a share, In the "New User Quota page", Celerra Manager asked me to input user name and domain, Since there isn't any domain exists, What domain name should I use here?
I always got the wrong message "Error while getting the id, Please check if the User exists in the domain specified. Quota is not created." I'm pretty sure the user name exists in the celerra.

How to delete a single quota rule? I didn't find any
button to delete that on the GUI. And in the CLI
There's only one command to clear all rules.

are you talking user quota's or treequota's ?

treequota's you can create and delete in Celerra Manager

for user quota's it looks like the CLI can only create and change them but not delete one.

The easyiest way I found is to use a Windows client. Just map the top level of a file system to a drive letter, right-click and select properties.
In the Quota's tab there under "Quota Entries" you can add/change/delete specific user quotas.

This should also be possible through a MMC plugin - I just cant find the name of it right now

no particular reason. Its just a bit unusual to work without any DNS server - normally there is at least a domain controller around that acts as DNS server
If you dont have any just put in any IP adress there.

try using the standalone CIFS servers name as the domain name

or use the Microsoft MMC from a Windows client to create the quotas

OK, The problem is solved , Thanks Rainer!

Now I have a little more queries with Quota.

How to delete a single quota rule? I didn't find any button to delete that on the GUI. And in the CLI There's only one command to clear all rules.

I read the manual ,and noticed that the tree quota can not be defined for an existing directory. Then how can I restrict the directory already created?

    Many thanks!
