CAP2 errors

Hello,

I got the fomowing messages from CAP2 results of 2 arrays:

1) Warning    LUNXX    Server Configuration   Trespassed   Verify server attachment

2) Warning    Host HBA  Host YYYY path not logged in (SPA1)   Verify Host attachment and connectivity status

3) Informational   BE Bus    DAEs are not allocated even accross buses     Please verify

In addition,  for case 3, in the RaidGroup Layout there is a red line with the message "MISSING"

and no Bus2 Encl1 whereas Bus2 Encl0 and Bus3 Encl0 exist.

May someone help to explain and repair these errors ?

Regards

    • hi
    • for the message  Warning    LUNXX    Server Configuration   Trespassed   Verify server attachment you can go to Navisphere Manager> tools> trespass report , and a new window will appear containing LUNs that are trespassed you will go to LUN Folder and select the LUN by Right Click then select Trespass to get it to it's default SP
    • for the message Warning    Host HBA  Host YYYY path not logged in (SPA1)   Verify Host attachment and connectivity status , i need to ask you is that host singly attached or has two HBAs if it was one HBA decline this issue and advice the customer with redundancy, if this host has 2 HBAs please review zoning , cable connection and HBA in the host
    • for  Informational   BE Bus    DAEs are not allocated even accross buses     Please verify

In addition,  for case 3, in the RaidGroup Layout there is a red line with the message "MISSING"

and no Bus2 Encl1 whereas Bus2 Encl0 and Bus3 Encl0 exist.    you can run CAP2 >Tools> Service workbench>Clariion Configuration Review to check if B2 Encl1 is physically installed or not

    Thanks for your answer.

For case 3) I went on site and noticed that the numbering of the

    DAE has a jump, It is something like 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 then 6.

Is it possible to change the number behind the DAE from 6 to 5

    without issue ?

    Regards

for you Question "Is it possible to change the number behind the DAE from 6 to 5 without issue ?"

if disks are configured and there is data you cannot do that as the address will change . but if DAE isn't configured you can remove the DAE and restart MGMT server then add DAE with the correct address.

Ok, in case of upgrade should we continue with the next

number let say 7 or we can use the free number 5 to address

    a DAE ?

    Thanks

the physical position does not matter for DAE nor does the numbering -- you can have any number you want as long as it is not a duplicate.

It might make it confusing for someone looking for a specific disk and is expecting the DAE's to be in physical order position - of course, you should always triple check which disk you are removing before actually pulling any disk.
