DPA Install - How to use a named MS SQL instance for the DB?

Greetings

I'm trying to install DPA 5.5 and have a SQL server available for the database, but there are no default SQL instances running.  When I run through the wizard, there is no option to enter an instance name.  There is no mention in the documentation one way or another as to whether named instances are supported or not.  Does anyone know if they are and if so, how do you configure DPA to connect to it?

    Hi,

    I consulted with one of my colleageus from DPA and he says that you should be able to find this information On page 62 and 63 of 'EMC Data Protection Advisor Version 5. 62 5 Service Pack 1 Installation Guide' which mentions the instances and SQL.  Check the guide from page 59 and post further details if this doesn't answer your question.

    Hi Bobby

    I looked in the 5.5 SP1 Installation Guide (I had been using the plain 5.5 Installation Guide) on all of those pages and there is no mentioning of how to reference SQL instance names.  The database names to be used are listed, but that's not the issue.

    Any other ideas folks?

    Hello brerrabbit,

    I just helped a customer with this yesterday.  In the installer for DPA

    Database Server: server_name\sql_instance,1433

    Database Name: config

    Port 1433 is the default port for SQL if you are using a different port then substitute 1433 for the port you are using to connect to SQL
