E5510 'n' Optiplex 980

Long time administrator of SCCM 2007 SP2 R2 with MDT 2010 U1.
We have rolled out many models of Dell laptop and desktop with the use of the Dell update catalogs BUT on both the E5510 and Optiplex 980 we have a couple of driver issues on Windows 7 Pro.
Firstly On the E5510 the touchpad does not work at all once in windows - drivers from the CAB are installed and say they are working correctly BUT the touchpad is dead - until you manually install the driver from the Dell support site R281462 - which works fine - is this something that can be rectified or added to the CAB file.
Secondly the NIC drivers on the 980 are not added when you import the drivers - either via the CAB file or if you download the driver from the support page - Intel 825xx R272000. if you install this driver manually this also works but not through SCCM.

any chance this can be rectified also.
I like the current CAB files so would like to stick with those rather than adding in individual drivers into SCCM - much easier to support.

Cheers in advance

Thanks for the feedback. I'll send this on to the driver cab team.

    Hi Warren,

has there been any update on this - we are still having issues with the touchpad on the E5510 - even with the manually installed driver the touchpad doesn't perform very well - i.e. seems to stutter when you are moving across the screen etc.

    cheers

Sorry for the delay. They are planning on updating the existing cabs on a quarterly basis, which would roll up any new drivers/changes at that time. I don't have a schedule for when those quarterly updates will start. I'll try to get more details.
