Access the BIOS, F2 at boot. Is the adapter power rating shown or is it displayed as unknown? Kudos to @ejn63  for that information.

    Only things battery related are

    Adapter warnings

    Powernow!

    Battery health

    Battery charge configuration

    Advanced battery charge mode

There was (not anymore) a warning on boot up that it didn't recognize the charger. It went away maybe after I turned "adapter warning" off in the bios.

Disabling the warning simply suppresses the message.  It does not solve the problem.

Try a new OEM Dell adapter next.

Yes.  One of three things is faulty:

    The adapter,

    The DC input jack or

The charge circuit on the system board.

Try a new OEM adapter first.  If it is detected by setup (F2 at powerup), you're set.  If not, replace the DC jack in the system.

If neither of those results in a detected adapter, replace the system board.

You talking about a different power adapter?

I already replaced the power jack in the laptop but didn't fix it.
I tried another dell power adapter, not OEM but it had the same problem.
Through some system testing it does warn me the life of the battery is at it's end of life.

Could the battery be the problem? If not then it has to the the charging circuit.
