If this recently started on games where you used to get better results, we need to identify what changed. You mentioned trying a lot of things to solve it. It would be helpful for you to list what you have already tried.
What are your CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming? One of the most common issues that can cause a decline in gaming performance is the accumulation of dust and lint in the fans and heat sink radiators. If you have not cleaned out the inside of the system recently, this would be something that needs to be done regardless, and doing so may solve your problem. The GPU may be throttling due to overheating. The same can happen with your CPU.
Pull the bottom cover off. Remove the screws attaching the fans. This will give you direct access to the heat sink radiators. No need to disconnect the fan wiring. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove all of the dust and lint from the fans and heat sink radiators. Compressed air will also work. If the crud is caked on, you may need to use a soft bristled brush to knock it loose. Hold the fan blades to prevent them from spinning up at high RPM because that can damage the fans.
This is a simple procedure that can be finished in 10 or 15 minutes, so avoid the temptation to try a shortcut approach trying to do this without accessing the inside of the system. This cannot be effectively done blowing compressed air into the exhaust vents from the outside. All that will do is move the junk around and it will end up clogging things up again in a very short time.

In that case, do as BJFox suggested above. Check the temps of both GPU and CPU. Find tools and recommendations to troubleshoot overheating issues here.

Those seem to be the temps in idle. I would like to see the temperature when the system is under stress.
To test the GPU:
Run HW Monitor or GPU-Z Sensor >> Run the benchmark you'll find in Heaven and share the final score and average FPS. Also, please post the temps while the benchmark was running
Next, to test the CPU:
Run HW Monitor >> Run the torture test found in PRIME95 for 5 minutes (Just as the screenshot in the article). >> Monitor the activity in all the cores and share the results. *Remember to stop the torture test or else it will keep stressing the cores.
Last of all; just remember that Windows8 hasn’t been validated for the M18X R1.
