On a laptop, I think you will have to use a USB or Firewire capture device ... which means it's not AW machine specific. Look for reviews about capture devices. I don't think you can record HDMI easily, but nicer capture cards record 3-wire Component. I use Hauppauge cards in my HTPCs ... their stuff is usually pretty good.
