BIOS ?'s

Any way to make my bio's editable so that I can change a few things and make my system run a little better? Its out of warranty so I'm not worried about voiding my warranty. Or is there somewhere that has edited bios' that I could just download and flash?

    b_boy_69_00,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

You cannot edit the bios to make changes.

For one I would like to overclock my cpu a little bit so that I can get it running a little better, but thats not even that important, I am in the process of modifying it to accept a third SATA device and the BIOS only allows 2 so I needed to modify it to accept 3

I don't think your system even has 3 SATA ports, unless you have the minitower and bios already supports 4

What we're working on is installing a 2nd hard drive in the desktop case. We are modding the case to accept another hdd, and are using a 1 to 2 sata power cable for the power, but are still working on hooking up the 2nd hdd, right now we haven't found a way to do it, except with a pci card which is a last resort since it is really just a shortcut. Right now we are figuring out a way to replace the cd/dvd rom drive and the floppy to put in the new hdd, so we wont have to cut on the case, and then just use a usb dvd and floppy.

Whatever that motherboard has in the way of SATA ports is all you are going to get, ,my suggestion is to get either a 500GB or 750GB hard drive and partition what you need, there is no need for a 3rd, 4th SATA controller.
If you want more spec then spend more money and get the Precision 390

The reason we are using this system is that we got it for $75 from an old woman, she said it was broke and didn't want have anything more to do with it, her son wanted her to learn to use it so she could do her banking online and he wouldn't have to drive her around to do it, but all that was wrong with it was that the power switch on the front of the case was broke so we decided to have some fun with it. The reason we want to put a second hard drive in it is because we just put a 320 gig, well 300 gig cause maxtor uses base 10 instead of base 8, in it and want to keep the 80 gig in it too just to store some movie and music on it.
