dimension 9150 cpu

I have dell dimension 9150 with 2.8 pentium D processor i want to upgrade it and all i can find is that i can upgrade to intel 945 3.4G PD. I just want to make sure this is correct before i buy it and put it in.

    or suggestions on a better cpu if technologys changed the answer at all.

    im upgrading to 4gb ram and NVIDIA® GeForce® GT630 video card also. thanks by the way

    If you do not have 4GB RAM, you will get more bang from upgrading the RAM instead of the processor. Going from 2.8 to 3.4 Mhz will NOT give you a 20% boost in performance. You may not see any noticeable change.

    My D9100 with 3GB RAM and nVidia 6800 graphics runs Wun 8 pretty good for an eight year old machine.

    I'd get the CPU on eBay.

    An SSD is another improvement you might consider, but I'm not sure if it's a good choice for XP.
