Dell tech support lead me to my event viewer which showed that I have 1094 events that are causing user and computer issues. They told me the only way I can have them removed is by purchasing $200.00 certified support. Is this correct? Heather

June 19, 2014, a man with an accent just called me and said he was Dell support team, technical service, and asked me to go to Event Viewer and see the errors, exactly the same as what you reported above, including the $200 charge to fix them all. I did not continue, but asked for his number, which he gave as the "Customer Service Number" (1-800-833-4377). The number he called from was 201-351-7760, which he said was Technical Service. I believe this was all a scam, so did not do any of it. Can you guys at DELL verify this?
How do i report this abuse, and is there a way to report abuse of 800 numbers? Thanks!
John

It's a SCAM!
Dell never cold calls people and tells them to look in event viewer.
If you google those phone numbers you'll find numerous complaints about scammers. Probably faked the Caller ID, so you can't even be sure that's the number making the call.
Not much you can do, aside from what you did - hang up! And never let anyone remote into your computer. :emotion-5:

Thank you so much. Yes, our company computer guy responded to my call. I must have been rushing, clicked on a phony Dell site and could have ended up with some real trouble. He installed a malware program and I am fine am fine.
I was being hoodwinked.
I really appreciate you responding to my post. Thank you, Heather
