Going crazy!

Suddenly I can no longer e-mail Dell support from my homepage. I get an error message no matter what I do.

Also, this is the only forum I can posted in. Other forums demand a login first, and when I try to login in or to register, I get an error message that name, e-mail address, etc. is already taken no matter how I change the information.

I have telephoned Dell technical support and they say they do not know how to resolve the problem nor whom I should contact.

So I am hoping someone here as some suggestions.

Thank you very much.

you must have a cookie or some cookies on your computer that is or are corrupted. i had something similar a while back. a program called Gator did it to me. i ran norton utilities and it found the problem.
i had to go in and manually delete any references to the program. not in the registry but in the cookie file. one thing you might try is going thru your cookies and copying the ones you know are ok and you need and then deleting the rest of them. get norton utilities. i was never a big fan of these kinds of programs but it has saved my butt many many times. i highly recommend it.

Thanks for your speedy reply. I also am a big fan of Norton and ran Norton utilities but it found no problems.

The strange part is that I can post in some forums but not in others. But mostly, I want to be able to e-mail Dell support, which I cannot do.

P.S. Also, why does "October" appear at the bottom of my postings? I do not put it there.

Go to My Preferences (at the top). I bet if you scroll to the bottom you will see "October" in there. Delete it.

Thanks for the tip. I was unable to reply to your post under my login name.

And I was unable to access My Preferences until I reregistered with a new login name. The "karon" name no longer works. I asked Dell to send my my password as a check, but the one they sent does not work.

The "October" thing just started today and now I can't use that login anyway. If this post has "October" on it I will go bananas.

    karon
do you also run norton anti virus? i have a feeling you may have one. a friend of mine finds that every time he uses microsoft word when he closes the program he gets a pop up window that says something like "update global signature. blah blah blah, ok?" he always says ok to close the window and it puts some weird signature at the end of his word project. found out he has a macro virus that changes his signature and puts some kind of weird tag on everything. messes with his cookies too.
i wish i knew more to help you. stuff like you are experiencing makes me absolutely nuts. i will keep trying to find out something to help. don't give up.

    hey venture 1:
why do you think that karon/lostnow is having these posting problems? and log in problems? what would keep changing the info that is being stored and or supplied?

Yes, I run Norton Antivirus and update it regularly. Just checked on it last night and all is well and up to date.

Actually, karon is no longer my login name. Dell had me change it because my password no longer worked and they suggested reregistering under a new name.

No wonder I now receive notice of my own postings as if they were someone else's reply. If my karon login password worked, or if Dell could tell me what password to use, I would gladly return to that login name.

    How confusing!
