UNSOLVED
missing file
I am a total newbie i have had my computer for two weeks and have been online for two days. when i got my computer and started using it after a few days a screen would pop up on my desk top telling me the file dblkusd.dll is needed and i should put in my dell disc to find the file. when i did this and clicked ok it wanted me to tell it the path for the file to be found. i called dell and they very nicely got me on my way to rebooting my windows and as soon as it looked like everything was going to be ok and i hung up with the dell guy the same message came up in the middle of the reinstall. a friend of mine had a look at my computer and says that i have a conflict on my imaging device because in my list of hardware the dellA920 icon has an exclamation mark on it and i am having trouble holding a page on the screen and when i go online after a while the screen turns totally blue and in white writing it says
a problem has been detected and windows had been shut down to prevent damage to your computer if this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen restart the computer if this screen appears again run a system diagnostic utility supplied by your hardware manufacturer in particular a run memory check and a check for faulty or missmatched memory try changing video adapters then it tells me it is dumping of physical memory to the disc and there are numbers counting up to 100. I am hoping that all i need is this file and all will be well.
I also had a worm that was shutting down my computer and a friend of mine removed it. I hope that i have given you enough information and will await any reply or help. THANKS in advance

tilly27,
Sounds like your system would benefit from a format and reinstall. You can try a repair install as I assume that you have windows XP installed on this system. this will leave all your data in tact and repair the windows files on the system. If the problem is with other software or drivers then the format and reinstall would be the way to go.
