You'll get A05 here. No there's no problems with A05, it's quite an old update which is why it's fallen off the list of "previous versions"
Hi, Thanks for your reply. I understand the possibility of failure to update a BIOS. I guess the primary question is - why does DELL's update list show 0990-A09 update for my Optiplex 990 but doesn't have 0990-A05 which is required before 0990-A09 will continue? The second part is the Q re known update problems; if there is no response to this and I can get a copy of 0990-A05 then the risk is mine :-)
Hi, Thank you. I have d/loaded A-05 , will wait a while to see if anyone has had a problem before I proceed with A05. All being well with that I'll then try A-09. If that succeeds (or not) I'll post the results here.
***** Well all succeeded A05 first, then A09 after a short time and a couple of restarts (by me) so many thanks to the willing members of this support forum.Regards BCC *****

There is always a chance that a BIOS update can brick a system. So I don't know what you are asking.
