PCIe Alert !
Hi Everyone
I am new to the board and I need a bit of help. I have had a dimension 5000 for about 5 months without any problems I have made 2 additions 1 extra DVD recorder and a 256mb GeForce 6600, just recently I have a message appear on start up (before it goes into XP load) ALERT PCIe running in x1 mode, press f1 to continue or f2 to enter set up, does anyone have any clues as to what has happened? Any help appreciated

Thanks for the reply, I have tried that and now I have repaced the graphics card but I still get the same message !444

There must be something blocking the contacts. Remove the card and blow it out with a compressed air bottle. If there error still occurs, it doesn't really matter. PCI-Express cards don't lose any performance at x1 speed either. Well, maybe just a tad.444

Thanks for all your help, I have now tried everything and it still will not work. I am now trying to get help form Dell which is proving to be very painfull. I think the motherboard is faulty but I really don't want to send the computer back to Dell so I will run with it as it is.

What was the original Dell installed video card?

Oh. Perhaps the PCI-Express slot was damaged overall. You never know because it hasn't been used yet.
Do you mind taking a picture of the slot and posting it up here by using PhotoBucket or ImageShack?444

The slot has been working ok for 4 months or so, then it went wrong, I have replaced the graphics card but still get the same problems.
