I added two 64 Mb Samsung modules to two 64 Mb NEC modules (original Dell memory) and had no problem.

My new 8200 came with 256K of Samsung RDRAM. I think that it is just the "luck of the draw" as to what manufacturer of memory Dell installs. They must change from time to time on the production line. I did upgrade it to 512K by with Samsung RDRAM purchased from GoogleGear: http://www.googlegear.com.

Because RDram is added in pairs it's recommended only that the respective pairs be from the same manufacturer and type (ECC vs. non-ECC).

This is normal. The 1MB is the video memory.
