Are you saying that after being booted to windoze a thermal failure message is coming up? Or is it the "Alert - thermal failure" bios message which appears BEFORE you get to windows? What hardware changes have you made recently? What model GX1 - SFF, or larger?shesagordie

optiplex GX270 dell
The GX270 comes in three different versions, the Small Form-Factor, Small Desktop and Small Mini-Tower models.
See HERE
Which version do you have?
Have checked that inside of the case, fans and heatsink cooling fins and the air intakes in the front panel have no dust buildup recently?
Also, check that the processor and chipset heatsinks are still firmly attached to the motherboard and the case/processor fans are working. While the case is open, you could check the motherboard for capacitors with bulging tops or are leaking, the tops should be perfectly flat.
Bev.
