XPS 600 PENTIUM 4 3.8 HYPER THREADING
Does anyone know if the new operating system "vista" will support hyper threading techniology?
Reason for asking is that i want to be sure that the 3.8 pentium 4 cpu that i plan to buy in my new xps 600 is supported by the new OS at the beginning of the year....
If not, I'll wait for the Dual core 3.8 to come out before buying my new gaming machine.
Does anyone know? I know that the 64bit Windows XP does not support hyper threading...
I'm not sure if it would be the same for the Vista OS system?

quad core? no way, really. what do you know about the quad cores? is it intel? also, i believe eventually 3.6 and 3.8 dual cores will be coming out. more or less when do you think 3.8 dual cores will come out?- yes really, quad core intels. read about in maximum pc. i think next year 3.6 + 3.8ghz dual cores will come out. the fastest dual core now is the pentium extreme edition 3.46ghz- ive heard it can be overclocked to 5.0ghz! With a water vapor cooling system that costs like $900!-also maximum pc

...Quad Cores won't be usefull for personal use...it will be for the Sever-market especially... And the Intel prices have dropped allready... 3,4Ghz Dual Core processor: $ 637 => $316

yeah, you're right. Ill have a use for dual core. and there is no need for a server on my part.

So do you think it's worth buying the pentium extreme edition 3.46ghz now? or wait for the 3.6 dual core to come out? i was thinking of buying now a Pentium 4 3.8 670 series processor in a new xps 600.I'm afraid that a year from now, I 'll be regretful for not waiting to buy a dual core 3.8.....also, how would these new processors effect the 3.46 extreme edition? price wise? wouldn't the 3.6 dual core be just or faster than the 3.46 extreme edition?rraallpphh13- the pentium extreme edition is sooo good because its a dual cores with ht. what does that mean? HT means hyper threading or that the operating system sees the core as 2 cpus. so 2 cores that have ht, like the extreme edition, the pc will see it as 4 cores. Yeah, wow! so not really. it alll depends.

exactly.my 3.2 is DualCore and HT, and shows up as Quad 3.2Ghz in Everest, CPU-Z, and Windows Properties.
