I am not satisfied with my system resources. I have read through several of the other posts and have done everything suggested. I have been to the web site that shows what can be removed from startup and explains how resources are used.

Just in case I missed something in the other posts I thought I would provide my information and see if some one can help.

I have 256MB RAM, 20 GB hard drive, Windows 98 SE. My system is a Dimension XPS T550. It is 10 months old.

The only things checked for startup are:

1.ScanRegistry
2.SystemTray
3.LoadPowerProfile(there are 2, don't know if I need it, not sure if I use Power Manaage.)
4.Pointer (have Intellimouse Explorer, if remove from
startup, loose it's configuration)
5.Alogserv
6.WinPoET (DSL connect)
7.McAfeeVirusScanService
8.ENSApServer2.0 (home networking)
9.LoadBlackD (home networking)
10.Sharing&MappingSoftware (network doesn't work if I remove this)
11.WirelessControlPanel (need for network)
12.InternetSharingServer
13.QuickenStartup
14.Billminder

Quicken and Billminder do not show up on the taskbar. I have repeatedly unchecked these but they still have a check when the system reboots.

I have found that if I don't have all items for my home network checked, then it doesn't work.

I have a little speaker icon in the task tray that is for volume, don't know how or even if I can get rid of it.

I have also on almost a daily basis delete temp int. files, cookies files and windows temp files.

When I first start up the computer, my resources are at 83%. All I have to do is open one program, close it and my rersources go down into the 70's. After a couple of hours the resources are down to 50% and the system really starts to hang.

I sure hope some one can give me some help. I'm getting tired of rebooting my system throughout the day so I can increase my resources.
