Hi ppl,

I'm trying to find an AC adapter compatible with my N5010.

There seem to be many models, so I'm wondering

how to choose a compatible one.  The situation seems chaotic.

I have a PA-3E family adapter (if that's the apropriate identifier for it),

but on the Dell page I found only two adapters compatible with the model,

none of wich is the PA-3E ! :

And according to compatibility list posted by SpeedStep PA-3E is not even compatible with N5010!

As for the local shops, most of them sell an adapter wich is clearly not PA-3E (not slim)

and tag it simply as "Dell AC Adapter" without any model compatibility information.

So, could it be that all of these models are fine and will work with (almost) all laptops or do I

need to find exactly the same model? In any case, quite strange that Dell copmlicated the

adapters so much, doesn't seem like a great technical problem to produce just a few universal models...

The PA3 and PA4 are upward-interchangeable (you can use a 130W in place of a 90 -- or a 65).  Don't use a lower-wattage adapter than specified though.  The 65W versions will work with i5 and lower CPUs and integrated video - the 90- and 130W are required for an i7 and/or discrete or hybrid video.

These will all work with the D-series as well.
