D/Bay Adapter?
Is there a USB adapter for the D/Bay Model #PD01S external enclosure? Here is picture what the enclosure looks like, but it does not show the connector on it.

Chris,
I realize what type of connector this is. I need to know if there is an adapter that can be purchased to convert the D Bay connector to a regular USB connector. I know Dell wouldn't sell it, but do you know a place that i could look for one? Thanks

Hi,
I dont think you will find one. You can still use USB, but you may need 2 plugs, as USB has a max of 500mA and some disks need more, or they wont spin up. What are trying to run and from what ?

Hi,
No, dont cut anything. Does your lap-top have a CD in it ? It should have either a " D " bay or CD, otherwise you would not be able to do a reload. What model ? You may be able to use a USB CD drive.

I am looking for an adaptor to use with the PD01S so I can use the drive with a non-Dell computer. Is that possible? Is there such an adaptor? Thanks.I was wondering the same thing. I came across this article that details how to re-plug this unit to allow for a power adapter and USB connection.

Hi,
The plug is half USB, the device wont work from a USB port. A USB device will work from the " D " bay port. A " D " series floppy will work with USB, there is a seperate USB connection on the drive. Have a look at the user guide to see a " D " bay port, an X300 or M60 will have one. To see the port should make it easier to understand than words. ( you can find a user guide if you go to the product supprt tab above )
