You need a new hard drive.  Any 2.5" 9.5 mm SATA notebook drive can be used to replace your faulty unit.

I sliiped in another hard disk into my laptop toc check if the start button error goes away. Though it worked better, the bootup message shows that there was a heat problem. So I think the Hard drive is fine and the problem lies somewhere in the fan/system probably. In that case I am not sure what and how to get checked?

 

Can you help me find a cheaper way?

I am having the exact same problem, and I am fine with getting a new hd, but I do not want to lose all the stuff on it.  Is there any way at all to salvage my documents and pictures?

If you cannot get your system to boot in normal running mode, try booting it up in safe mode. my system will not boot in normal mode but would boot up under safe mode. I used this mode and logged in, afterwards I copied all the files I wanted to save to an external hard drive.

 

Before replacing your old drive with the new one, confirm that all files have been saved to the external hard drive because you will not beable to copy files from your old one once it has been removed.

Remove the hard drive from this computer and mount it in an external enclosure. Attach it by USB cable to a working computer and copy all your data from this disk to the hard drive of the working computer.
