Disable BIOS Help

I keep getting a stop error while working.  The blue screen tells me to disable my BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.  Can someone please tell me how to do this.  I have a Latitude D505.  When I submit an error report to MS it tells me the Error caused by a device driver.  But I do not know how to find out which error is causing the device.  If anyone would be kind enough to help me I would be so happy.  I have been trying to fix this problem since December!

    Hi dbely,

From my understanding the stop error message stating to disable caching and shadowing are part of a generic stop error message I think. Also there are no options in D505 BIOS to disable them and I really doubt that the stop error is coming up because of these two options being enabled.

if you could provide the stop error we can try to find out if there is some workaround for it...

    Stop Error 0x0000...

Thank you so much for trying to help me.  The stop error is: 0x0000000A.  When I submit the crash report to Microsoft, it comes back telling me it is a device driver causing the problem.  I have deleted every bit of hardware I have (even took it out of the registry).  I have reinstalled the drivers from the CD that came with my PC.  I have done everything I think I can.  I have since deleted some updated software that was installed automatically on my PC.   It hasn't crashed so far today... but it has only been on for about 1 and a half hours.  Anything you can do to help is great.  Thank you so much.

    Hi,

The Stop Error 0x0000000A usually comes when a driver tries to access a memory location where it does not have access. This could happen due to a badly written driver or an application.

    I would suggest:

    1. If you have installed any new application or devices try eliminating them and check

    2. I have also seen this sometimes with Easy CD Creator -> http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=165863&sd=RMVP towards the bottom of this article

    3. Could also be sometimes due to Hardware Failures (Memory, Hard Drive, Processor or Motherboard). Try running the 32 bit Dell Diagnostics from the Drivers and Utilities CD and check if any of the devices fail

    Regards,
