Go to SolutionMemory options for Precision M6700
I have 32GB of memory that I used in a different laptop (another manufacturer). I still have the memory and I'm wondering if I can use it in Dell's Precision M6700. Is there anyway that I can find out or someone can tell me that it will or will not work? I have 4 modules:

That's a desktop memory module - you can't use it in your notebook. The notebook requires soDIMM memory (notebook form factor).

Welcome to Dell community!
The memory configuration in Precision M6700 is based on the processor. All 4 memory slots (DIMM) will work if the computer has Intel Core i7 Quad Core or i7 Quad Extreme processors. Only 2 DIMM slots will work in configurations with Intel Core i5 or i7 Dual Core processors.
May I know which processor is in your computer?

@ejn63: I checked and the memory modules do say SODIMM on them. I copied the info in my initial post from the manufacturer's site. I'm not sure why it says DIMM. Is that what you were referring to? Either way, I appreciate your response.

The memory you have won't work in any notebook - it's for desktop systems.

@enj63 Wow. The pictures make it clear that the memory modules are different. But mine does not look like the picture of "the part I have" that you linked to. It looks more like the one "I need".
I attached pictures below to see if it helps.

Those are indeed soDIMMs but look at your initial post - what you posted there isn't that part number. What you initially referenced are desktop DIMMs.

Well that explains it. It was my mistake. I must have copied it from the wrong page. Thanks for catching it.

I bought the M6700 and it works with the 32GB of RAM. I don't know if you can upgrade the processor that comes with the M6700.
Here are some of the specs for my M6700 mobile workstation.

Yes, they'll do fine (as noted above, i7 required for 4-soDIMM support; i5 supports only two).
