New Disk Drive
I purchased and installed a new SATA disk drive in my Inspiron 1750. When I try to install windows, it gets to the point of asking me where to install it. My new disk drive is not shown as an option. There is an install drivers button, but where and how do I get the drivers and how do I get the system to recognize them?

- BIOS does not see the new drive. I tried to remove and reinstall, but always the same result. I reinstalled the old drive. The difference is that with the old drive, there is a definite change in resistance the last 1/4" with the old drive as it snaps into place. I think the new drive is not making good contact.
If the BIOS doesn't see the drive, Windows won't, either -- is the old drive still recognized?
If the new drive is slimmer than the old one, you may need to use a spacer to install it (carefully check that the sata data and power connectors are coming together correctly).

What version of Windows are you installing?
