No Adaptor

I received my new Dell Laptop computer but joy of joys there was No Mains Adapter, what kind of organisation is Dell running, I had to contact them and yes you guest it they already known of the problem and could not even phone me to let me know and yes they have sent one out to me, yesterday or was it the day before I've had two stories from them so far? and when would I receive this very important item yes you have guest that right they had no idea! 2-3-4 or 5 days. So far I've taken two days off work and how will I be treated by Dell for letting me down! I will not be holding my breath on that one.

Exact same thing happened to me. i recieved my inspiron 5160 on the 5th jan only to find that the "black box with green sticker" wasnt in the box so i wouldnt have any power. after eventually getting through to speak to someone i was told the same thing, that they already were aware of the problem but they couldnt tell me when the power cable would arrive, maybe 2 days, maybe 3 days, maybe 4 days. anyway it's still not here and i have had no indication from dell when i can expect it to arrive, despite filling in the missing item form on the customer care page 2days ago. so much for the claim to respond to those emails on a next working day basis

    UPDATE
I have had phone calls from Dell, informing me that my 'Adapter' will arrive on friday 7th Jan, I even had a phone call from Dell asking me if the Adaptor had arrived on friday (11.45) I  waited in all day and yes you guessed it NO CHARGER ARRIVED!

Another day off work, three days wasted so far!  Can I get any joy from Dell on Saturday, NO,

Do I know when this small item will arrive NO

I have been promised 'Extra Guarentee cover' as compensation, so far that too has not materialised or the promised phone call from Dell, promised at 18.00 on Friday and it looks like I will have to take more time off work next week!

I see on this board I am not the only one being given the run-around by Dell's incompetence in delivering a simple package not even the royal mail is this slow (4 Days and counting)

I havent even recieved any offer of compensation from Dell, or any phone calls. In fact, I've recieved no contact from them whatsoever, despite sending three emails (wed, fri, and sat) via their customer care website and telephoning twice. I phoned today (Sat) but the customer care line was closed. I've been unable to use the computer now for 4 days due to the lack of an adapter, and no-one at Dell seems to care one bit. It seems to me that there's been one big messup somewhere along the production line but no-one wants to know or take any responsibility for it. Frankly, no response in 4 days to three emails is a total disgrace. I still dont know when to expect this adapter to arrive, and it will be Monday at the earliest before I can get talking to someone on the phone. Not that I hold out much hope for that, seeing as they couldnt tell me when it would arrive last time I rang. The whole thing stinks.

    Tuesday 11th UPDATE

Still no Adaptor, promise of guarantee up-grade and also £50.00 refund, but still No adapter the one item to get going with the laptop!

I was informed yesterday that an Adaptor would be sent (Monday 10th) to replace the one that has not turned up! As most if not all of the Dell operators do not speak clearly it is at times difficult to understand exactly what is being said even when asked to repeat, could be part of Dell's policy of confussion. But they have or have not sent out  a replacement last week, as I've been given the runaround and this delay is sickening it is not suprising that I take what is said with some scepticism.

The fact remains that the Customer Care is very sadly lacking in any positve drive to solve this problem! I.E to deliver Now!

No Adapter today. Just off the phone to Dell Customer Care who informed me that it was despatched on Friday but that I may have to wait until this Friday, a full 9 days after recieving the computer in the first place, before recieving this vital piece of equipment! This company must take its customers for complete fools, if they expect us to believe that it now takes a full week to deliver something in the uk. The Royal Mail might have its problems but its not that bad! Totally shambolic. It's hardly surprising that they don't seem to care anyway, after all they've already got your money

    Last Update

Adapter arrived last Thursday, along with up grade in Warrenty and cash back. Now up and running with all Windows updates downloaded.

I hope it is the last of my problems with Dell?
