2001fp Question
Is there any way to hook up the 2001fp monitor to a progressive scan DVD player by
a) Using a Component to VGA converter (cheapest solution)
b) Using a Component to DVI converter (I've only found the ATI DVI to Component)
c) Buying a DVD player with DVI output (Samsung and V, Inc. units are > $200 right now)
I currently have a DVD player hooked up to the S-Video connecter, and it looks fantastic...I'm just curious if there's a way to make progressive scan work as well.

You were clear I was just offering another connection possibility that will give you progressive scan if you can't get it over S-Video. I have my STB DVD recorder hooked up to my TV S-video, composite and component. The Progressive scan features are not disabled on any of the connections, including S-video.pcloadletter

Maybe I wasn't clear...I already have the DVD player hooked up to the monitor with S-Video, which is (at least in my experience) better than composite. However, as far as I understand, S-Video does not support progressive scan. I was hoping to use the progressive scan functionality of my DVD player with this monitor. Since the resolution is even higher than many LCD-TVs, I am assuming that it is possible.pcloadletter

That is simply not possible. Progressive scan is not supported by composite or S-Video connections, only component, DVI, or HMDI.
"On DVD players, the progressive scan signal is sent via component video connections, which are labeled Y, Pb, Pr. Component video connections labeled Y,Cb,Cr transfer only interlaced signals. In addition, standard AV and S-Video connections do not transfer progressive scan video images."

Well then I guess I'm judging progressive scan in the wrong way. I judge the quality of the connection by how the picture looks when the pause button is pressed. On my TV/ DVD recorder combo I can not tell the difference in the picture when paused. All the different connection types look good. And this is on a 65 inch high definition TV.
