2407wfp bad bad component
i just got my 2407wfp on weds
after running some banding tests i found in the forum
my model A03 mexico had some. but fortunatly this was fixed by upgrading the drivers
on my geforce 6800gt and now the banding is all gone.
but now there is one huge problem. bad component picture.
i have hooked up the monitor to my ps2 with component cables and frankly
the the picture looks better with the composite -__-;;; which is still pretty bad.
i was just wondering if most of the people have had similar issues with the
2407wfp and a ps2 hook up using component. i know some people had
posted bad component problems with older revisions but i just wanted to know
the issue for the A03
i am really happy with this monitor except for this one crucial issue.
any suggestions or commnets would be very much appreciated.
if there is no solution then i guess i need to return it.
i was wondering does dell offer a full refund within the 21 day period?

- The component inputs on the 2407wfp are just bad in general. Granted, they could be fixed by a firmware update except that everyone in the product group has cataracts and refuses to recognize there is a problem. However if the is an A04 they will hopefully get a clue and fix what is imo one of the monitor's major selling points.

The change they made in the A02 revision of the monitor was turning off that active color correction deal in desktop mode for the DVI/VGA input.However it was never done for the component input.So if say you were to go into your service menu and turn it off for the component input it will make it look much much beter, however your not allowed to do this as far as I know and it can/will void your warrenty.Its totally safe to do, its nothing more than turning off the function that plauged the A00, A01, monitors.But nobody ever told you to do it :PNow for my question: besides the quality of the PS2 on the screen how does it fit? I guess you have 1:1 pixel maping on and its fiting the full vertical of the screen with some black bars on the side?Or is it a small image in the center of the screen with black on all 4 sides?Thanks for the info.caddyman67

Hmm, I'm going to have to check into this. I have the A03 and all I'm using on it now is the DVI but I may want to use it as a TV so I should check on these issues. When I get some time I'll try and do some more testing in these areas. Overall though, I'm much happier with the A03 than the A02 which I had replaced. Thats all they did was turn off some active color function? I was under the impression that 1:1 was not fixed, I have to look at this.- I have the 2407WFP A03, and the component input does not correctly perform 1:1 for 1080i or 720p. They are both slightly smaller than they should be (some black on all sides at 1080i). I have a tuner box which outputs 720p via both DVI and component, and the images appear differently on the monitor.
- KevinR, You're right, the DVI is much better, but there is a problem with the monitor being woken up from the DVI port by a non-computer--the monitor crashes (at least with the HD tuner I am using). So I have been using the component inputs to avoid these crashes.
