Bad LCD

My display went bad on my laptop. Any one know how to get a CRT monitor to work using the
Video out on the back of my laptop till I can afford to get it fixed? I tried pluging a SVGA monitor
in and booting up with no luck at all. Do I need to do anything with certain keys on the keyboard
during the bootup? HELP PLEASE !

Thanks.

the TV-out(aka S-video or RCA port) is self explanitory, its for TV ouput only...
when you hook up your monitor to the video port. try hitting the function key and the key that switches between the CRT and LCD... this is usualy one of the F keys (ie F1 F2 ect) consult your manual for the exact combiniation.

if this does not work, consider that it may not be your LCD, but one of many possibilities, such as Processor failure, or other component failure.

Get a docking station for you laptop and then you can use your work station mouse , keyboard, and monitor. Then you laptop will just act like a tower.
