1.  yes, i have tried reinserting the power cord, and I have tried it on several different outlets, with and without the surge protector.

2. I dont get anything at all.  The usuall is green for on, yellow for standby, but im getting nothing.

1. You've removed and reinserted the power cord into the back of the monitor, right? And you're certain the outlet is live, right?

 

2.  When pushing the power button are you getting a green or yellow indicator or nothing at all?

 

On rare occasion a power cord has been known to go bad.  If receiving no green or yellow indicator on the monitor can you try swapping the power cord with the computer or another monitor to verify it's a good cord?

ok, I tried using different power cords, and more different outlets, but still nothing.

I heard some thunder last night, could a surge have knocked out my monitor and not my computer? because my computer works fine.

Sure, a surge could pop an internal fuse or fry a part, even if plugged into a surge protector.  Better the monitor to go than the computer.  Before giving up up this monitor either you or a local shop may be able to open the case and check for a blown fuse.

 

And again, sorry if obvious, but you are pushing the correct power button on the front of the LCD, right?

yes, I am pushing the correct power button... I at least know that much

 

any idea what it would cost to get someone to do that?

and i thought surge protectors were supposed to protect from that...

I guess my surge protector is a couple years old though...

A local computer shop in my area charges about $50 to "diagnose" monitor problems.  However, if it's a simple issue to open the case and check for a fuse, probably considerably less. A TV repair shop could do the same.  Best of luck.  :smileyhappy:
